Roatan is becoming a preferred destination for entrepreneurs thanks to the ability of the Prospera special development zone, managed by Honduras Prospera Ic, to attract renowned startup competition, Meet The Drapers. The event, recorded at Zona Próspera on March 8, brought together startups from the region, marking a historic milestone for the island's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
For the first time in history, a he Meet The Drapers host venue has produced the highest proportion of qualified startups compared to any other city in the world where the competition has been filmed., including New York, Dubai and Los Angeles. This demonstrates the incredible talent in Roatan and how Próspera is opening doors for entrepreneurs to compete on a global level.
The competition featured startups in biotech, finance and blockchain technology, including. Unlimited Bio, The Network Bank, Muse.Bio and Blink. These ventures were selected from more than 150 applicants to present their ideas to a panel of renowned investors and business leaders, including Tim Draper, Adam Draper; Honduras Prospera Inc CEO Erick Brimen, and Infinita City CEO Niklas Anzinger.
“The startups we saw at Zona Prospera are so solid that it was impossible to ignore their potential,” said Tim Draper.
Próspera is proving that Roatán is not just a paradise-it is a powerhouse for startups.. The event attracted a large audience from across the island and showcased the region's ability to produce outstanding ventures that compete on a level playing field with the best in the world.
Beyond the core competency, 17 additional entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present their projects directly to the Draper brothers in private sessions, thanks to the Startup Residency Program led by Infinita City. This program provides local and international startups with direct access to top-tier venture capital and expert mentoring, strengthening Roatan's position as a growing innovation hub.
