As of September 3, 2024, full (e)Residency and physical Residency in Prospera have a one-time cost of $130 per year for anyone in the world - a reduction of up to 90% from the previous rates for foreigners. Limited e-Residency remains free of charge.

Since its founding, Prospera has worked with the conviction that an economic freedom zone cannot be a privilege reserved for those who can afford high barriers to entry. The reduction of residency fees announced in September 2024 is the most concrete expression of that conviction: as of that date, anyone in the world can become a full resident of the enclave - with all the rights that entails - for $130 a year.

For a middle-income Honduran worker, the previous tariff of $260 per year represented a significant barrier. For an international entrepreneur, the previous $1,300 annual fee for foreigners could be a disincentive to explore the enclave as a base of operations. With the new unified tariff, both barriers disappear. The cost of one year's full (e)Residency now equates to less than $11 per month.

Three levels of residence for each user profile

Prospera's (e)Residency system is designed with a logic of scalability: each level offers more rights and access, but also carries greater responsibilities. The entry point is free with no strings attached; higher levels enable full rights at minimal cost.

Visitor's Pass (limited e-Residency) - free of charge. It is the frictionless gateway to the enclave. It allows unlimited daily access and up to 30 nights of stay, with the possibility of occasional non-systematic work subject to monthly and annual limits. It is intended for tourists, business visitors, people evaluating Prospera as a possible living or working base, and low-income Honduran workers who want to get to know the enclave before committing to a paying residence.

e-Residency - $130/year. Designed for mainly digital residents who do not plan to spend more than 30 days a year in the ZEDE. With the e-Residency you can register companies and own property within the enclave, with full labor rights. It is the ideal profile for remote entrepreneurs, digital nomads, real estate investors in the enclave and anyone who wants to build a legal and patrimonial presence in Prospera without the need to physically relocate.

Physical residence - $130/year plus insurance. For people who work or live full time in Prospera. Includes all the rights of the e-Residency plus on-site access without limitation of days throughout the year. It requires the contracting of a residence insurance - whose cost varies according to the risk profile - that protects both the resident and the other members of the community against possible damages derived from the daily activity in the enclave.

Applying for (e)Residency: online process in 1 to 3 days

The application process is fully digitized through the portal eprospera.com. It does not require physical presence, travel or intermediaries. The system includes an investment-level identity verification (KYC) process that ensures that those accessing the enclave are bona fide players, allowing Prospera to offer the highest level of freedom to its residents once inside.

Step 1  Choose your type of residence Select between Visitor Pass (free), e-Residence ($130/year) or Physical Residence ($130/year + insurance) according to your needs and the time you plan to stay in the enclave.

Step 2  Review and sign the Coexistence Agreement. The Coexistence Agreement is the contract that formalizes your entry into the Prospera community. It establishes the rights and responsibilities of the residents, including compliance with the tax and regulatory rules of the enclave. It is the literal expression of the consent of the governed.

Step 3  Pay (if applicable) and send in your documentation For payment methods, the process includes payment of the fee, followed by submission of your personal information, contact details and proof of address (utility bill or phone bill in your name and address).

Step 4  Verify your identity A web application guides you through scanning your official ID card and taking a verification photo. The process is simple and is completed in a few minutes from any device with a camera.

Step 5  Approval in 1 to 3 business days Once the application is submitted, the Próspera team reviews and approves the documentation. The usual timeframe is one to three days. Once approved, the residency is activated and you can start operating within the enclave with full rights.
