Próspera Foundation and the House of Culture Sign Agreement to Advance Arts Education in the Bay Islands

Roatán, Bay Islands.  To support young people’s cultural and artistic development, Próspera Foundation and the Roatán House of Culture signed an agreement to launch a vocal and choral training program for students at Instituto Santos Guardiola.

The initiative will provide 10 full vocal and choral training scholarships to students selected through auditions and an assessment of musical aptitude, with support from Próspera ZEDE.

The 12-month program will be led by the Roatán House of Culture, with academic coordinator Lena Rosales and under the direction of Jhon Girón.

The main goal is to establish the first Official Bay Islands Departmental Student Choir, giving young people the opportunity to develop their vocal and musical abilities through a structured training process in an island community that lacks academies of this kind to nurture artistic talent.

The 10 scholarships will cover enrollment and monthly fees throughout the program. Classes will be held at the House of Culture on Mondays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., providing two hours of instruction each week.

Students will be selected by the House of Culture and the academic office of Instituto Santos Guardiola through auditions and an assessment designed to identify vocal and musical aptitude, commitment, and artistic potential.

Nurturing Local Talent

For Próspera Foundation, this program is an opportunity to invest in young talent and expand access to arts education in Roatán, strengthening spaces that support students’ well-rounded development and enrich the community’s culture.

Choral training will create a space for discipline, community, and personal growth while giving young people the chance to represent their school and department in public performances.

As part of the agreement, the House of Culture plans to hold at least one public choir performance each semester and maintain records of each scholarship recipient’s academic and musical progress.

The creation of the Official Departmental Student Choir seeks to become a platform where young people from Roatán can develop their artistic abilities and gain access to new cultural experiences.

Through initiatives like this, Próspera ZEDE and its Próspera Foundation continue to strengthen their ties with Roatán’s communities by supporting programs that promote education, culture, local talent, and the well-rounded development of new generations.
