Próspera Foundation Celebrates Sunshine School Robotics Team’s International Success in Australia

Roatán, Bay Islands, July 2026. Próspera Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to the members of Sunshine School’s Hawks Mechanics robotics team, whose performance at an international robotics competition in Australia made Honduras proud.
As part of its firm commitment to developing Honduran talent and advancing STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), Próspera Foundation was honored to sponsor this group of promising young people. Seeing them earn international awards reaffirms that investing in technology education for Honduran youth delivers results.
At the competition in Australia, the Honduran team stood out among representatives from Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas, earning two major honors. The Alliance Challenge Award recognized a collaborative partnership with the German delegation in which the students demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and cross-cultural teamwork.
They also earned the Third Place – Robot Design Award, taking third place worldwide for excellence in robotics engineering. Judges evaluated and recognized the robot’s innovation, programming, mechanical design, and reliability.
Hawks Mechanics’ performance went beyond technical skill; it reflected constant improvement. After qualifying nationally, the students redesigned their strategy and improved their field score by 60 points over the local round, demonstrating the discipline and analytical rigor that characterize tomorrow’s leaders.
Ana María Cardona, the team’s coach and director of Sunshine School, highlighted the educational impact of the experience and the transformative value of opening STEM opportunities to young people, a vision shared by Próspera Foundation as it continues supporting projects like these.
