Prospera Arbitration Center and the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Atlantida sign MOU for dispute resolution

The Próspera Arbitration Center (PAC), instrument of the Próspera ZEDE, announced today the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (CCA) of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Atlantida (CCIA) to strengthen Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Honduras.

“The agreement promises to expand access to justice for both Hondurans and international investors,” said PAC appellate arbitrator John Pelander, a former Arizona (U.S.) Supreme Court justice.

The PAC legal director and Honduran notary, Leonidas Rosa, further explained that “through this agreement, a growing number of lawyers and arbitrators from Honduras and around the world will become familiar with the practice of dispute resolution in Honduras, both in the Prospera special economic zone and in the department of Atlántida.”‍

The Memorandum of Understanding between PAC and CCA commits the two organizations to jointly promote the use of ADR to resolve disputes in their respective jurisdictions.

“We believe this collaboration will strengthen our efforts in the field of arbitration and ADR and allow us to better serve our clients,” noted PAC Acting Executive Director and Honduran attorney Alberto Hernandez Franks.

‍More specifically, the agreement commits the two arbitration centers:

- They will conduct training programs and exchange of ideas and opinions for each other's personnel. Through this collaboration, we hope to enhance our skills and knowledge in the field of arbitration and conciliation;

- Jointly explore other areas of collaboration, which could include l oganization of conferences, seminars and workshops on national and international arbitration in Honduras.. We also hope to invite key members of our respective arbitration communities to attend and participate in the main events organized by both institutions.

“The PAC looks forward to working together with the CCIA CCA,” said PAC Chief Arbitrator John Gemmill, former Chief Judge of the Arizona (U.S.) Court of Appeals.
