The attack on ICSID is an attack on the rule of law.

The Republic of Honduras has taken steps to denounce the ICSID Convention, a multilateral treaty that has its roots in the efforts made by the United States and its allies, after World War II, to establish an international order based on the rule of law.
The Convention of the ICSID created the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), which is the leading international institution specializing in the resolution of investment disputes between foreign investors and states. For decades, States have consented to resolve their disputes at ICSID as a means of attracting foreign investment and promoting development by guaranteeing investors a neutral forum that does not rely on uncertain tribunals or political demands incompatible with the rule of law.
In recent years, the extremist governments of Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela have denounced ICSID, only to face a negative response from the international community; in an effort to boost its economy, Ecuador rejoined ICSID under a subsequent centrist government.
It should be noted that j honduran activists have united to challenge the Honduran government's denunciation of the ICSID Convention., as being contrary to Honduran law and null and void. This is because the complaint cannot have legal effect without the approval of the Honduran National Congress.
Despite the Castro Administration's continued attacks on the conditions that protect and promote investment in Honduras, Honduras Próspera Inc. continues to create opportunities that promote the development of Honduras. and remedy the root causes that lead to mass migration to the United States. The mission of Honduras Prospera Inc. is to eradicate poverty by generating prosperity as a business model.. The basic premise involves private capital investment to deploy cutting-edge public policies that favor growth and job creation to uplift the communities that have fully consented to be part of the ZEDE, while boosting the country as a whole.
Last year, direct and indirect jobs created by companies operating in Próspera ZEDE benefited nearly 4,000 people. If allowed to grow, this territorial entity developed by Honduras Prospera Inc has the potential to create tens of thousands of stable, well-paying jobs for Honduran workers. Not surprisingly, the majority of Hondurans support Prospera ZEDE. This is demonstrated in poll after poll since 2021; while any negative opinion represents a minuscule 0.9% to 3.1% of the Honduran electorate.
For decades, The United States has been a leading proponent of the rules-based international order., The Honduran government has a strong, bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress for the Prosperous Honduras mission. There is broad bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress for the Prosperous Honduras mission. The truth is, by attacking Honduras Prospera and denouncing ICSID, the Castro government threatens to sacrifice the livelihoods of thousands of Hondurans and repel international investors. All of this is done in pursuit of an extremist agenda cheered by the People's Republic of China, Venezuela and Cuba.
But it is not too late to mitigate the damage being caused. The only thing the Castro government has to do is to comply with the law., The US government should respect its commitments and abandon its efforts to expropriate investments and deny U.S. investors their basic rights.
