Honduras Pròspera

In the space of just over a year - from the fall of 2024 to the first months of 2026 - Honduras Próspera Inc. has executed the following projects a set of community initiatives that illustrate the social dimension of its development model through concrete actions The following activities were carried out: the provision of free satellite internet in a community with no previous connectivity, emergency expansion of this coverage in the event of a tropical cyclone, an educational alliance with Misión Roatán, the inauguration of the Learning Center, the delivery of 250 school kits for this school year, seed capital for university entrepreneurs, and the arrival of Honduran designers who shared a workshop with the children of Crawfish Rock.

Different episodes, one common thread: the conviction that economic progress and community welfare are inseparable.

Internet for all: Luz y Vida connects to the digital world (January 2025)

On January 11, 2025, the Luz y Vida community took a significant step towards progress by successfully connecting to the internet through the Starlink platform, thanks to the support of Honduras Prospera Inc, operator of the Roatan ZEDE.

The chosen solution - three WiFi nodes with strategically placed Starlink devices - responded to a specific logistical challenge: Luz y Vida's remoteness from the island's urban infrastructure, which until then had kept it on the fringes of any form of stable connectivity.

With this contribution, digital inclusion is no longer a dream for the inhabitants of Luz y Vida, who now have free internet access on the island of Roatán, in the Honduran Caribbean. What distinguishes the project from a conventional technology intervention is its model of community collaboration. The residents offered their homes and backyards as public WiFi access points, creating shared spaces that promote cooperation and mutual support, thus strengthening community ties.

As a result, this infrastructure allowed a total of nine areas of Luz y Vida to access the internet, promoting digital inclusion in an area that previously lacked adequate connectivity. Children, like their parents, now have access to knowledge, information and entertainment that were previously unavailable to them because they lacked a physical library, much less a virtual one.. Luz y Vida became the first area to have free internet in the Bay Islands.

The choice of Starlink responds to a decisive technical advantage in remote environments: its independence from terrestrial networks guarantees service even when local outages occur, which would prove especially valuable weeks earlier during the Tropical Storm Sara emergency.

Storm response: solidarity in emergency (November 2024)

Tropical Storm Sara made landfall on November 14, 2024 near the Honduras-Nicaragua border, bringing sustained winds of 72 km/h and heavy rains, with up to 760 mm of rain expected in northern parts of the country. Schools in the Bay Islands were closed and the Juan Manuel Galvez Airport in Roatan suspended operations until further notice.

In the face of telecommunications disruption, Honduras Próspera Inc. acted within hours. In response to the challenges generated by the storm, the company, in collaboration with Vitalia, strengthened its support to the Roatan community by expanding free Internet access to additional key locations on the island.

The new emergency nodes were activated at points in the island's daily life: among the locations enabled with additional free WiFi were Skål Kaffe Bar and Restaurant, starting at 10:00 am, and Sabeya's Restaurant at Crawfish Rock, starting at 1:00 pm..

The response demonstrated the strategic value of having its own satellite infrastructure capable of operating autonomously when conventional networks fail, and showed Vitalia -from the resident community in the ZEDE- as an actor also committed to the emergency of the island that hosts it.

Partnership with Mission Roatán: one school year for fifty children (November 2024)

On November 20, 2024, Honduras Próspera Inc. announced a new new partnership with Mission Roatán to fund a full year of quality education for fifty local children by 2025. Mission Roatan is an organization with more than a decade of presence on the island, which makes it a partner with genuine roots in the community and with the accumulated trust of the beneficiary families.

The initiative goes beyond education: it is an investment in the future of Honduras. Early access to quality education is key to empowering the next generation of leaders., We are committed to the development of our companies, innovators and entrepreneurs who will drive long-term progress in the country.

This alliance is part of an e a broader educational strategy that includes the Próspera Learning Center, which already serves more than forty students between the ages of 6 and 17 free of charge with English classes, digital literacy and school tutoring.

Partnership with UTH: seed capital for entrepreneurial talent (August 2025)

Honduras Prospera Inc's commitment to human development does not stop at children or the island. By August 2025, the he Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH) and Próspera Honduras officially launched the ‘Activados’ initiative.’, The event was a contest for students from this national study center to present their business ideas focused on entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation.

The national competition, promoted by the UTH AVANZA Innovation Center, was aimed at students from the campuses of San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, El Progreso, Puerto Cortés, Santa Bárbara, Tegucigalda, Islas de la Bahía, Siguatepeque and Choluteca.

The national coverage of the program is not a minor detail: l The Próspera platform is a lever for development beyond Roatán and extends it to the mainland, precisely to the cities where young talent resides. which, as Erick Brimen, CEO of Honduras Prospera Inc. points out, Honduras has had the luxury of exporting for too many years.

The program was supported by the Próspera Foundation as a sponsor, providing seed capital and strategic support for the selected teams. It is foreseen that ten teams are selected as winners, who will receive seed capital to strengthen and develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) as a first step. towards the consolidation of their business initiatives. Those who correctly implement this resource and demonstrate initial commercial viability will be eligible for subsequent angel investment.

In this edition, the program concluded its formative phase with the initial participation of 90 entrepreneurial teams. After an intensive process of training and weekly challenges, 60 teams reached the program's goal with the construction of their prototypes and, after a first elimination round, 29 teams qualified for the semifinal stage. Diarioroatan The alliance with UTH, present in nine cities in the country, makes Activados the action with the greatest territorial reach of Prospera's community portfolio to date.

Fashion Innovation Award: national talent reaches the children of Roatán (2025-2026)

The bond between Prospera and the communities of Roatan found a particularly emotional expression through the Próspera Fashion Innovation Award. The first edition of this recognition brought together designers, creatives and industry leaders in Tegucigalpa at La Marquesa Gastro Bar. Its purpose: to boost national entrepreneurial talent, promote sustainable innovation and strengthen the country's creative ecosystem.

Four designers were selected as finalists, each presenting a final pitch to a jury made up of Erick Brimen, CEO of Honduras Próspera; Blanca Bendeck, editor-in-chief of Revista Estilo; and Maribel Lieberman, founder of MarieBelle Chocolates.

After deliberation, the Próspera Award was presented to Roberto Ramírez, recognized for his creativity, artisanal technique and commitment to sustainability, His work, characterized by elegance and classic drama, consolidates him as one of the most outstanding figures in Honduran design today.

The mechanics of the award established from the beginning a concrete bridge between creative excellence and the island: the winner traveled to Roatán, where he or she got to know Prospera, visited its districts and shared his or her knowledge with other local entrepreneurs, strengthening the exchange of ideas and experiences.

The rest of the finalists received the surprise of being invited to promote their projects with the support of the platform, generating ties with the creative community and investors to create new development opportunities for Honduras.

And the story did not end there. In March of this year 2026, the winners of the Próspera Fashion Innovation Award, accompanied by the island model April Tobie, ambassador for the Prospera Foundation, shared with the children of Roatan, closing a cycle that began in a gala in Tegucigalpa and reached the communities of the island: Honduran talent projected to the world from the ZEDE, and returned as inspiration to the little ones.

A development model that starts with people

The initiatives described above coincide in a reading of development that Erick Brimen has clearly articulated: e he most valuable resource of a nation is its people.. Connecting Light and Life, protecting Roatán during Sara, financing the school year for fifty families, promoting university entrepreneurship in nine cities in the country, among other activities for and with the community, are not gestures of corporate social responsibility juxtaposed to the business model: they are its most direct and lasting expression.
